More Than Your Average Quilting Studio

Patchwork Piecing

Patchwork piecing is the process of taking fabric cutting it up and sewing it back together to make a quilt top.  If you love the look of quilts but don’t love the work, here is what you need to do. Purchase a pattern you like and the fabrics to make it and let me do the rest! Need help picking fabric or the pattern, I can help with that too! I also have some pre-made quilts for sale that might suit your needs. The studio uses a Pfaff PowerQuilter P3 with Quilt Artist computerized software.  This system provides crisp even stitching even with heavily quilted patterns. Patchwork piecing is billed at an flat rate of $15/hour. Since there are so many patterns to choose from the length of time to complete your quilt will be dependent on the complexity of the pattern. A time estimate will be provided when order is placed.

Longarm Quilting

Longarm quilting is the process where you take a piece of backing fabric add a layer of batting then add the quilt top and then stitch all 3 layers together. A pantograph is the quilting design used to stitch these layers together.  They can be geometric, floral, or specific items like a ladybug.  Overall quilting covers the quilt with a pattern that goes from top to bottom and side to side, with no breaks. This is the most economical choice.  The starting rate for this service is $4.00/sq. ft.

Custom quilting For that special quilt that allover quilting just wont show it off.  This is where each block, sashing and border can have a unique quilting pattern of its own.  The pricing for this service will be determined at the consultation meeting.

Machine Embroidery

Embroidery is the process of stitching designs onto fabric, vinyl, and apparel.  Embroidery designs must be digitized to a format that the embroidery machine can read.  Most of the studio designs are purchased digitized files.  We can also do custom embroidery.  If your custom design is not already digitized we have a company that will digitize the file for an additional fee.

About

My name is Shelley Zeleniak. I first opened my studio in April 2014 offering only longarm quilting and patchwork piecing. The name for the business “DATS Quilting Studio” was a play on the expression “that’s quilting” and was made up of the first initials of my children, husband, and myself.  After I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, the studio evolved to offer embroidered items and services. Then, during the pandemic we rebranded and changed the name to just DATS Studio.  This name was then again changed to DATS Studio Creations to signify that we do more than just quilting.

I am profoundly hard of hearing and rely mainly on my eyes to hear what is going on around me.  If I can’t see your lips then I can not hear you. This is why I ask that you send me a message or text the phone number listed below.
